Ajax opponents guide

AFC Ajax

Country: Holland

From: Amsterdam, the capital, which has a population of 6.7 million people

Positioned: On the western coast of Holland, 45 miles north of Rotterdam, 76 miles north west of Eindhoven and 25 miles north of Utrecht

Description: An ultra-liberal sector of Europe known for its weed and hookers, but there’s more to Amsterdam than that.

It oozes culture, friendliness and tourist-friendly sites. Oh, and the best bars anywhere on earth, arguably.

Random fact: The Amsterdam Stock Exchange is the oldest one in the world

Stadium: The Amsterdam Arena holds 51,715 people and is six-and—half miles south of the city centre.

It takes about 20 minutes by Metro from Amsterdam Central Train Station to Bijimer Station, right outside the ground.

Tickets: United would probably get about 3,500 tickets costing about £30 each.

Where do you get your price and allocation details from?

  • Oli

No idea on price but away section is blocks 416 and 417 and around 3000. Sometimes 415 can be added too. Scotland got from 408 – 417 and that was 8k allocation.

  • nick

what are the chances of united going back in the champions league after today’s newspapers oli?

  • Oli

Nick, about 1%. At best. Swiss FA have said they will comply with FIFA so do not see it all being resolved.

  • George

    Ajax Away

Manchester United will play Ajax at the Amsterdam ArenA on Thursday 16 February, kick-off 19:00 CET.

Executive Members, Season Ticket holders and Official Members can apply for tickets online or by calling 0161 868 8000 from Mon 9 Jan – Fri 20 Jan.

The Club has received an allocation of 2,590 standard tickets which are priced at £50 each and 200 VIP tickets which are priced at £92 each.

  • Peter

2590 tickets? and the ballot is really late. so without a credit you wont have a chance to get a ticket. with one credit 50/50

  • Paul

Great one George, Not a great allocation but most with a credit will get, sure Ajax will get a lot bigger allocation at OT, Tickets are a bit pricey, OT prices are barely discounted also, countless will opt out cos of this and still able to apply for aways.

  • Oli

Anyone with a credit will get

  • newcastle red

Hi I have one champions league away credit, just read the news we are only getting 2,590 for trip to ajax, I have already booked my flights, whats the chances of getting a ticket, thought we would get bigger allocation then this, quite worried now, anyone put my mind at rest? thanks

  • teesside red

    only one credit fingers crossed.

  • Oli

You will be fine with a credit as always people that cannot go and some not bothering with Europa at all.

  • Paul

Its worth noting that TCS seem to have more tickets than usual for this game as running 3 day trips, plus 1 night and accommodation only packages all with a Guarantee of a Ticket

  • Oli

Paul, excellent point. See Vitty’s latest article. The new hotel and ticket only option is a total con to the loyalty system.

  • newcastle red

Can someone confirm if the 200 tickets priced £90 are part of the 2,590 allocation or not, just worried as Only have one away credit and with TCS taking maybe up to 800 tickets, looks like Iam going to miss out. If I also apply for vip tickets in ballot would I have a better chance of getting one, already booked flights and hotel, not using TCS, any help be much appreciated.

  • robscot

Newcastle red, my advice would be to try for one in the cheaper category first, having said that you will probably have a first and second choice…. also i would say the tickets priced 90 are part of the allocation…. if i was you i’d just keep my fingers crossed… if all else fails hound them for a return…..

  • newcastle red

ok thanks for your help robscot

  • Paul

Wording of Ajax ticket news states the club have received 2,590 standard and 200 Vip tickets, Vip tickets most likely separate from United, in Main stand like with other Euro aways, unlikely you’d end up with a ViP as TCS will have taken a good percentage of them.

  • Oli

Makes no diff what price band you apply for as to whether you will be successful or not. After ballot is done and ppl are successful or not, they then assign price bands.

  • Paul

If of use to anyone TCS now have limited availability on 3rd day trip, places must have come up because of either non payment or United not confirming memberships of some booked on.

  • robscot

theres also day trip 1’s available?

  • stewart

Why would a non member apply for a package with tcs?some thick fuckers out there!

  • robscot

Stewart do you have anger issues? william wallace you are lol

  • stewart

Will have if i dont get in this joke of a ballot!

  • robscot

    how many credits you got?
