but its the fact we all know, what tickets they have left over they sell on to anyone, seen that in porto!
I agree entirely with Paul. They have every right to buy the exclusive rights to sell official packages and United would be foolish to give other travel companies tickets too. They offer a product and fans can choose to buy it or not buy it as they wish.
However, the problem with TCS is the way in which loyalty can be bypassed. It should operate like domestic travel does- they do the ballot and THEN fans who want TCS travel too can book it. Or, if fans are worried they won;t get a day trip place after the ballot, fans should be able to book TCS trips but then withdraw if they don’t get in ballot.
Oli has hit the nail on the head regarding Thomas Cook Sports.
I agree oli, would that make it similar to mufc travel? but the applicant then gets the option to cancel travel if they dont get the brief?
If that were to be the case i would totally agree! I think there is a market for ppl wanting to do the day trips… i prefer a few nights, cant be the night before, few beers until the silly hours…
Problem is TCS need to be able to offer a ticket to make their euro trips more desirable, as there’s other competitive deals available, some no doubt book with TCS for guaranteed ticket as a safety net rather than risk a knock back in a ballot, they may have not decided that travel option otherwise, a lot of regular euro away regulars go independently safe in the knowledge there’ll get in the ballot. But there’s times when the club should insist TCS raise loyalty criteria and still likely not effect sales any great deal, £35 coaches to Rangers wouldn’t have needed a guarantee of a ticket to sell out, and schalke semi day trips would’ve been in high demand even with a raised criteria.
Paul, yes that’s what I feel too. There are times where they’d sell out even if they attached the same criteria as the normal ballot does, eg CL final tickets. They’d still sell out their trips and there would be less hostility. It would even be a step in the right direction if they had to at least offer tickets to people with credits first, but could then widen it out if they had spaces left. That would also allow fans who get in ballot and then see flights are too much to book with them, whereas now you have to book travel on day of draw with MU to get a space. By the time independent ballot is done you have no option to go on official trip anymore.
On the occassions where they could easily sell out even with loyalty criteria but don’t require credits, their strategy basically enables them to raise prices and essentially to be touts. For example, one carling Cup final at Wembley was £35 for coach with independent ticket obtained or was £190 for coach and £120 ticket. So in one case coach is £35 and in another coach was £70 – same coaches leaving same place (OT) at same time. Hard to justify that. Same with their CL final packages. I appreciate Utd were contracted to give them CL final tickets but wouldn’t have harmed anyone to say they had to be offered to ST holders with home vouchers, same as the rest of us needed to apply. They’d have still sold out in 30 seconds flat as people would still be bypassing the random ballot in which some with all vouchers got and some did not.
did they get tickets for the champions league final?
Yes rumoured to have got just under 200, Agree CL final packages should have been offered to STHs in ACS and members with credits, it made United look bad, but all sponsors get final tickets but usually for Clients and Staff, not to publicly sell on.
Norwich v MUFC FEB 26th 1.30pm
TBH Paul i never seen them advertising champions league final packages with tickets?
robscot, they had 220 and sold them to any member or ST holder first come first served. Caused a strong reaction at the time.
utd have received an allocation of 2,590 standard tickets which are priced at £50 each and 200 VIP tickets which are priced at £92 each.
Suprisingly small allocation, but should see everyoner with 2 credits get sorted – and quite a few with one (you would imagine)
