West Ham confirm United allocation

United have got 4,500 tickets for the FA Cup game at West Ham, the home club’s ticket office has confirmed.

This is 752 fewer than the club were entitled to.

Update: United have now said the allocation is ‘circa 4,400.’

72 comments to West Ham confirm United allocation

  • Tommy

Yeah Oli I noticed a couple had said that I was thinking that club would never allow tickets not to arrive before a game, Ballet Thursday, tickets arrive saturday, quicker than expected

  • rob

    James, what’s your email?

  • vitty

If people keep on using this forum to beg for tickets and posting their numbers on it, I’ll just remove the comment facility.

    Please stop it.

  • vitty

Jack – it’s not as simple as that.

United would be breaking Premier League rules if they cut an opponent’s allocation.

We have to give other clubs 3k unless there is a safety issue.

If there’s not a safety issue, you can’t reduce it below 3k.

I’m quite shocked how many of our fans adopt this backward approach.

  • redsteve

Did anyone see the fire cracker/flare object thrown from the united end after the goal, part of it landed in the home end still lit. Idiots like that gives these clubs an excuse to cut allocations.

  • Oli

Redsteve, yes I saw it and saw moron responsible then run into concourse. Didn’t see who it was though. Total prick. sky News just had breaking news on ticker that South Wales police are appealing for witnesses over it. Really dangerous. The fact the guy ran out after shows he had no interest in even watching the match.

Don’t like to see Reds shopped, but do hope this moron is reported and gets a long ban.

  • RW

Oli / Redsteve, I was the person who was hit by that flare. It was still hot, but fortunately it hit my jacket and not by head or face. What sort of idiot launches something like that into the crowd?

  • Oli

RW, sorry to hear that, glad you are ok.

Your call, but if that were me I’d be reporting it in a second to SW Wales police. Even if you don’t know who it was, they should know someone got hit by it. We shouldn’t tolerate these morons.

  • RW

Oli. Once the flare had cooled down I handed it over to a policewoman who was stood nearby, and told her that it had hit me. Maybe not a ‘top red’ thing to do, but I’m sick of these idiots turning up at our away games. It could have caused a serious injury, and the authorities now have strong justification for slashing our allocation at Swansea next season.

  • Oli

RW, you have my strong backing on that. And any prat that comes on here about how these idiots make our away support great can fuck off. Glad you’re ok.

  • RW

    Oli. Thanks, mate.

  • redsteve

RW, it was the right thing to do. The guy in the home end did not realise it had landed near him cause it was that quick. For years we have never needed flares to create an atmosphere, leave it to all those in Europe. And yes they prob will cut allocation for next year.

  • vitty

As well as almost seriously hurting someone, that flare will probably cost us about 500 seats next season.

But nevermind, eh…we do what we want and all that.

    Makes me so angry.

  • Shabs

Best bit about yesterdays trip to Swansea apart from the result, the lads on the champions sports tours coach all singing along to Top Guns ‘ you’ve lost that loving feeling ‘ absolute quality :)

  • jack walsh

ok vitty,i know you speak sense on this issue,it’s just that we are fighting a losing battle here and you know full well that it’s getting worse/more ridiculous every season.
do haringey council really believe that should mufc fans be allocated the upper tier at whl there will ba a mad riot and 22 fans will fall to their deaths?.
    no.
    this is silly

  • Oli

Jack, that’s not the issue. It is moved on from a standing debate.

Spurs agreed to give us the upper tier of, when we had larger allocations at other games, our fans behaved. They then sent a representative to the Carling Cupmgame at Chelsea amd watched people run on the pitch, flares being thrown and a few other things, so withdrew their offer. Nothing to do with standing.

It is not hard to make a case that, the smaller our allocation, the better behaved our fans are. Most times there are incidents, generally is when we have more fans. If you’re Spurs, why would you encourage that? An idiot with a flare yesterday doesn’t help either.

Also, when you say it is getting worse every season, that completely ignores facts. Was Sunderland more last year or the year before? Was Villa more this year and last year than the years before? Was Anfield 1900 last year and a lot more this year? Things have been getting better in the last two seasons when you actually look at facts. We have moved the debate on from standing so that v few clubs cut for standing alone, rather than exit blocking and bad behaviour. That comes down to good work by fan groups and the club, undermined and restricted only by idiots among our own fans.

  • jack walsh

    oli,some good points.
but i do feel things are worse in some regards, council refusing to reveal their reasons for wanting to cut west ham allocation for instance.
are our fans worse behaved now than 15-20 years back?.
i don’t want to sound like i’m knocking the good work done by vitty and others, just feel like we’re getting shafted and will continue to do so until this issue reaches a point whereby the authorities have to address this, not just for us but for all fans

  • Oli

    Jack,

I agree there is no reason for there to not be transparency by councils. Even if we don’t like what they say, they should at least say it openly. Furthermore, it is disgusting that they don’t consult us/ work with us in many cases. Those councils that do work WITH us get better results, eg at Liverpool they consulted us and it helped mutually resolve problems.

However, it is still getting better not worse. ThreE years ago was an all time low, now allocations are going up not down in most cases, eg the examples I gave. Also, three years ago not one council spoke to us, now quite a few act as good case studies for how things should work.

I totally agree with you that others to be about a solution for all fans, not just us, that’s why tit for that is pointless. The PL need to set guidelines for how clubs set allocations, that go beyond the process they have at present and add in more about transparency and consultancy. The Local Government Association also need to tell all councils to be as transparent with fn groups as they are required to be with other stakeholders.

A lot of work is being done to progress these measures. More needs to be done to highlight inconsistencies etc in the media too, which will happen soon.

    Oli

  • Tommy

Totally agree with comments, what kind of people would bring a flare to a game of football in the 1st place, families with young children go to games and could of been hit, morons

  • J C

Swansea yesterday was a small allocation so the prick who threw the flare was very lucky to get a ticket but thanks to what he did yesterday it could be even smaller next year.

  • John

What bar is everyone going to ore game on Saturday? Ruston direction I assume
