London-bound Reds should keep an eye on weather

Reds planning to travel down to London for Sunday’s game should keep a close eye on the weather.

According to the BBC, it is due to start snowing in London on Fruday at around 11:00 amid temperatures of -1C.

It will keep snowing throughout Friday, the forecast says, and will only stop at 06:00 on Sunday.

Temperatures on Sunday are set to be around freezing.

16 comments to London-bound Reds should keep an eye on weather

  • Nathan

Lets hope they don’t cancel the trains! Thanks for the heads up :)

  • Mike L

There are some snow flurries today in London – but nothing big just yet. Perhaps problems could be at the Manchester end from the warnings I saw travelling to the game last night around the M62.

  • Higgo

nothing in Manchester yet. Apparently its set for tomorrow.

  • Amar

    coming down heavy in Coventry

  • Mike L

lots of snow down here – decided to stay home and not travel in to central London today.

  • T2000

Belting it down here in central London. Forecast for all day and tomorrow.

On a seperate note if you feel you can’t make it to the game then post the ticket to me. I’ll make worthy use of it ;)

  • John

Chelsea game couple of years ago at Xmas time got called off 2 days before the game due to heavy snow. Anyone expect a decision to be made tomorrow rather than the day of the game?

  • Oli

John, I can tell you as a fact that there was no snow in Chelsea when that game was called off. It was a disgrace and done as they had no injuries. Incredibnly the away club get no say, so Chelsea just called it off and got council to voice some minor safety worries.

I think Sunday can go ahead. Even if the stadium is ok, the police/ fire brigade etc will be under so much pressure all weekend and it seems a stupid use of resource to send them all to football matches (however much as football fans we would liek them to).

I have spoken to people at Spurs today who really don’t know yet, I think it is too early to call. But agree with John that is more likely to get calledd tomorrow than on the day.

  • Oli

On a more positive note, London weather forecast seems to go from heavy snow now to light snow overnight and light snow tomorrow day. So it may all ease off a bit.

  • Armani

Currently bucketing it down in Nottingham…

  • John

Oli, being from Herefordshire wouldnt know that, but remember locals in London saying that the snow was non-existent despite Chelsea calling it off. Remember going there for the 3-3 draw last season and there being snow present.

Hopefully decision is taken tomorrow rather than the morning of the game when plenty of fans are already on there travels.

  • Daniel

Traveling from sweden. If the Manchester trains will be canceled is there chances that the game will be postponed even iof the London traffic is up and running?

  • Tommy

Yeah Oli I also remember other football matches going ahead that weekend as well as rugby matches that weekend

  • Oli

Looks ok down south today, no significant snow overnight, I would guess game will be on

  • Carl

“Chelsea v arsenal will go ahead unless weather significantly worsens”.

    So we might be ok,
