Travel

Car – £67

There are two possible routes and all three are more or less the same.

It should take about three hours and 30 minutes and be 197 miles each way.

Route 1

Take the M6 to the end and then take the M1 south til the end of the M1, then turn right onto the A406.

Follow the A406 for 3.8 miles and then turn right onto the A40.

Turn right onto Old Oak Road and park anywhere in the area.

Route 2

Take the M6, leave at junction 9 onto the M42, continue onto the M40 and continue onto the A40.

Turn right onto Old Oak Road and park anywhere in the area.

Parking – £5

There are very few places to park around the ground and the surrounding streets are residents’ only parking.

Having said that, it’s worth checking each street’s conditions as a lot of the restrictions only apply on weekdays, though you will still have to pay.

You might be able to find the odd informal car park for about a fiver, but we recommend parking at the Westfield London Shopping Centre at Ariel Way, W12 7SH.

It opens at 09:00 at has 4,500 spaces.
The only downside is that it costs £5 for three hours and £10 for four hours.

Train

There are three ways you can go:

Route A: Avoiding central London – £75.70
(fewest changes)
Route B: Via central London by train – £75.70

The Walkabout at 56 Shepherd’s Bush was a very good boozer last year packed with reds, and it was only a 10 min walk from Loftus road.

  • Higgo

We’re on Train route C but it was a bit cheaper than that

  • D

I’m stuck on which way to go. I was thinking route B departing Piccadilly at 09:35. To help me out, does anyone know where they’ll be drinking before the match?
Secondly, Vitty, do you think ill make the 18:30 Euston to Preston? Looking at 17:28 Shepherds Bush via Willesden Junction?
Ill be grateful for any info, Thanks.

  • Conor

I’m getting the 10:15 from Picadilly to Euston. Not sure about drinking pre-game yet although the walkabout next to Shepherd’s Bush Green is a pretty safe bet for reds meeting before the game. If there’s any alternatives though… post them here

  • Ian

I’m working in london for most of week so will be staying on but getting last train back to Manchester as usual.

  • vitty

Depends on when you leave and how long the station queues are.

  • James

Sirbusby is the Walkabout away fans only do you know? Ta

  • Stefan

James, looking at various websites the Walkabout is the designated away pub by the police so should be only reds. Oneils just down the road a little is usually for away fans also.

Hopefully we’ll get a good sing song going in Walkabout!

  • James

Cheers Stefan! Walkabout it is! going to be an early start…

  • Stefan

I’ll be there early so hopefully it opens before 11. If not there’s a wetherspoons nearby.

  • John Irish

The Walkabout at 56 Shepherd’s Bush is where we are heading pre-match. Heard lots of good reviews about this place and their hospitality for away fans on match day.

  • Stefan

Usually a good crack in there as big old place. Not great last season as really early kick off on a Sunday and if I remember rightly the police wouldn’t allow them to serve before the match started. Will make up for it this season!

  • Will

train cost me £64 with a railcard from leeds :(

  • Sirbusby

Two years ago the owner of the bar put up United banners outside the pub before opening, ( actually i think he put up a QPR banner as well…) and
we were also allowed to bring in and drink our own beers inside. Crazy but true! But the police were´nt very happy about that and they got a big fine for it as well.

  • charlie

Anyone know any boozers nearby that show the game on telly? I know the Wlakabout wont, assuming i dont pick up a ticket anyone know of anywhere?

  • Rich

Charlie, the Three Kings at West Kensington will be showing the game. They have international sky and show all the three o’clock kick offs. I’ve been promised a ticket for tomorrow but if that falls through I’ll be making my way there. It’s literally 5 steps outside W. Kensington tube.

  • Rich

There are, however, planned closures on the district line tomorrow so be sure to check your route before travelling!

  • DrumJ86

To avoid the District line, get on the Central line at the earliest opportunity, directly to Shepherds Bush Station. Walkabout is a couple of minutes max from there, and then the stadium is a 10-15 min walk.
