Sunderland allocation confirmed at 2,379

Sunderland Regulatory Committee confirmed the decision at a meeting this afternoon.

No United fans’ group representative was at the meeting, though MUST chief executive officer Duncan Drasdo wrote to the committee chairwoman ahead of the meeting.

Mr Drasdo welcomed the increase of 97 tickets on last season’s game, while voicing MUST’s general disagreement with the concept of collective punishment.

He also offered MUST’s help in addressing any future safety issue identified by the council or Sunderland.

my view as the players come out at the santiago bernabeu, on my channel!!! mufc vs real madrid!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57n4cP7H2KM

  • Adam

Never understood why people film a match. If you want to watch a match through a phone or camera stay at home and watch on a TV. Only way are support will get back to what it was is if we go shit and get relegated. Even these muppets are in the away ends these days.

  • Higgo

Thats a bit harsh Adam. I don’t see the point in filming everything during a match, but each to their own. In Sam’s defence it is when the teams come out so he isn’t really missing the match, whereas some I’ve seen filming do it constantly throughout the game, which baffles me!

  • HampshireRed

    This man loves to film….http://www.youtube.com/user/telandbenjie

  • Oli

Very harsh Adam, I agree with Higgo’s comments.

I don’t think atmospheres suffer because someone has filmed players walking out at a Euro away before the match even starts.

  • shahbs

sorry agree with Adam, does not make a difference if players are coming out onto the pitch against lower leag teams in england or coming out to play at the bernabeu or nou camp, put them away. You’ve seen them come out onto a pitch millions of times before, why the need ? Has something changed with the players or kits, apart from the venues they still the flipping same.

  • Robert

What have these coments got to do with the Sunderland allocation?

  • Adam

Robert your man posted the video looking for views on youtube. GGMU MUFCFAMILY etc etc. Breaks my heart and many other reds when you see lads with ipads computers cameras when you know there are plenty of reds outside ticketless and they get in. Why bring an ipad to a game of football Your going to support Manchester United and watch a game of football. Why take pictures? Why post videos of the support singing on youtube? I dont get it.

Im not trying to be a ‘TOP RED’ but a few home truths have to be told. I would love to say more but its not for this site. I just wish we could have are away support back to what it was and have more of the older generation back nothing later then early 2000s be perfect. NO TOURISTS NO CAMERAS not a half/half scarf to be seen. Just the best away support in the land. It will never be the same again and it kills me that it has turned into who has the best video on youtube. Dont get me wrong i know of plenty of good reds just the tourist attraction that is Old Trafford and are away support which its slowly turning into is what hurts the most.

  • Higgo

    Eh?

    And its “our”

  • Oli

Yawn. Think you’ll find you are trying to be a top red.

I don’t film games but if others do I couldn’t care less, and there’s nothing to suggest they aren’t singing at the same time anyway.

Maybe you should produce a manual on how people should behave and we should all sign up to it in order to get tickets?

Just for the record, everyone moaned in the early 2000s it wasn’t as good s the 90s. Same people spent whole 90s saying it wasn’t as good as 80s. Etc etc.

Go and enjoy your own day out and stop worrying about everyone else.

  • Nath

I half agree with Adam, I’ve seen numerous videos of Rooney’s pen v Blackburn to win the 19th title. Why video one of the greatest moments in our clubs history? Watch it, take it in, not watch it through your phone

  • Tommy

Why do people like Adam continually tell people what they can and cant do, I have been to a few aways with United (Not as many as I would have liked due to missing out in ballet especially for league games) and Madrid is the very first game I have ever taken a camara to a match due to me not having been to the benabou before. I stayed for a few days did the sightseeing thing and took pics before and after the match but not during the match. Am I somehow in the wrong Adam? Are you more of a fan than me because I had a camama? I tell you what why dont I let you know my next away and then you can give me a list of dos and donts!!!

  • mufcdave99

completely agree with Adam, and oli he’s putting his opinion across, not telling people what to do…

  • mufcdave

completely agree with Adam, and oli he’s putting his opinion across, not telling people what to do…

  • Tommy

    mufc dave I quote
“If you want to watch a match through a phone or camera stay at home and watch on a TV.”

Sounds like hes telling people what to do. I have never watched a match through a phone myself but if someone has bought a ticket they are entitled to watch the match how they want and its not up to me, Adam or anyone else to tell people how to enjoy the match that they have paid for.

  • mufcdave

take it with a pinch of salt, he can’t make you do anything… but I, and plenty of others completely agree with him and his opinions. not that it makes a difference.

  • Luke

    FFS children, grow up!

If I go to the Coliseum I will probably take a photo, equally, if I go to the Bernabeu, I will take a photo. Personally, I do think it’s a little bizarre people film extended periods of the game on their phone, especially as the quality is generally crap anyway, but the point is, they’re entitled to do what they want, and what gives anyone the right to tell them otherwise.
As for atmosphere, I would agree, in recent years it has waned a bit away from home, but it’s probably a bad time to make such claims, as I think the last three away games (Fulham, Madrid, and QPR) we have actually been very good.
As for people filming the game at OT, you must have noticed we struggle to sell out these days. Just be glad punters are coming through the turnstiles. It’s not ideal to have day trippers in terms of atmosphere but it’s better to have a full stadium every week.

  • Mark @mcnts07

    Here here Luke, totally agree

  • stewart

If the technology was available in the good old days we would have seen george denis and bobby running about on youtube, its called moving with the times, whats the big deal.if you film or take pictures you’re a tourist?? Some logic that.

  • MK-Red

I’ve seen people being criticised on here for taking videos, wearing replica shirts, not singing, even singing the wrong songs, drinking in Irish bars etc, people dont stop moaning! Does any of it really matter as long as the team are being supported, i dont know if the atmosphere is as good as it used to be, even if it isn’t, its still better than most if not all IMO

  • Matt71

Guys while all you lot are arguing about a video, I think it would make more sense to let me have your Sunderland away ticket and that will stop anyone filming or not filming at a game!

Besides I expect my chubbathon to continue in this ballot and getting kind of fed and desperate and need cheering up

    Taaa

    Matt :)

  • Higgo

A bit off topic, but as the thread has become how people support the team, I’ve heard that the North Stand is going to be full of plastic flags, courtesy of Stretford End Flags, for the Madrid game. I thought we’ve always been better than that, with the mosaics etc. I’d love to know who the hell came up with that idea. I’ve always hated the placcy flags.

  • stewart

This is off topic aswell, just read somewhere that ferdinand has supplied that tosser russell brand with tickets for tuesday night, anyone heard? Having been to braga, istanbul and madrid and not been able to get for tuesday, will be well fucked off if this is the case.

  • Oli

Higgo, agree, but also I personally refrain from being so critical of such things when no one has has put the effort in to plan anything better. Easy to knock what others do, harder to do something better.

Stewart, I can’t get remotely wound up about things like that, talking about 2 tickets out of 76k and he is entitled to give them to whoever he wants. When you say ‘anyone heard’, Rio put it on twitter so hardly a state secret. Ideally wouldn’t happen, but funnily enough players get a few tickets for friends and family.

  • stewart

Not on twitter thats why I asked ‘anyone heard’, maybe the players can do whatever they like with their tickets, still pisses me off knowing I will be watching on the box when tickets are being handed out to west ham supporters..like you say ideally it wouldnt ,shouldnt happen.

  • Micheal

No body can complain of players giving there tickets to freinds. What you want them to do stand on SMB way and hand them out to you ? If you wanted a ticket for this should of bought a season ticket. Didnt see many people wanting to go galatasary/ braga / cluj at home.

  • stewart

    Was at all three

  • Oli

But Stewart, you know the rules, you choose not to buy an ST despite knowing it will shaft you for games like this. if you go to all the home games anyway, not buying am ST seems a strange choice.

And incidentally, if RIo’s tickets didn’t get to Brand, they wouldn’t go to you anyway, you not going is not linked to Rio.

  • Tommy

Oli I understand stewarts frustration, before I had season ticket I had OUM and I atttended all matches I could (Only ones I missed out on is ones I missed out on in ballet) and it annoyed the hell out of me that some people who rarely attended any games were succesful in the ballet and those who attended most games were not. I think there should be a system in place where those OUM who always go should get priority over those that rarely go.

  • Thomas

Tommy, its a hard one because i dont understand why people that want to attend all home games would buy a OUM over a Season Ticket. However, i do believe that for European games OUMs who have attend previous matches in the group stage Home or Away should gain priority over others in the ballot who havent, maybe a credit system is needed for Home game member ballots. I also believe a member who has been to the reverse fixture away should automatically gain a seat for the home game, but if your a member you just have to accept it doesn’t work like that. All in all i guess the moral of the story is to buy a Season Ticket.

  • stewart

Thats all it is tommy, frustration..an I dont really need someone like Michael telling me what I should have done . nonetheless here’s hoping for the victory on tuesday

  • Oli

I will never understand why someone would pay more to go to every home game rather than buy an ST, not least as there is far more chance of being charged for a more expensive ticket than the one you want. However, i accept that is a personal choice.

I don’t think there should officially be a loyalty system for members (for a whole host of different reasons) but when there is a game of such significance like this match perhaps the ballot should unofficially be a little less random.

  • Higgo

Fair play Stewart for doing the less attractive games and the Euro aways and I can see your point and understand your frustration pal. Its a weird one, but I also think that someone like you should get priority for these games based on your previous history, but I can also see the reasons why there is no loyalty system for OUM’s.

  • Tommy

Oli and Thomas when I was a OUM I could not afford to buy a season ticket but always had the money for each individual tickets during the season as crazy as that sounds, whilst you pay more over the season I just did not have the money in one bulk go. I know there is zebra finance now to help people out but if you have a poor credit rating then for some people buying individual tickets over the season maybe the only way to see united, I dont know stewarts personal situation but its not as simple as saying just buy a season ticket oli. If a OUM goes to all the way games like stewart you clearly should be entitled to a ticket even as a OUM in my oppinion

  • Sam Schofield

Agree to some extent to what you are saying (regarding filming the game) however i was filming the players coming on to the pitch as it is the best ground i personally have been to and i can look back at my own video and my view of the ground as a memory in years to come. Adam, i wasnt posting it on here to get views on youtube, my intention was just to share my experiences.

  • Sam Schofield

i also apologise for creating discussion about a topic completely different to the post, ballot permitting see you all at Sunderland.
