UEFA Champions League final tickets to go on sale

If you think United are destined for the lights of Wembley at the UEFA Champions League final on May 25, you can do your bit to be part of the action next week.

UEFA are selling tickets 11,000 of the 86,000 tickets online in a public ballot. Here is all you need to know to be in with a shout.

Q When can I apply?

From 11:00 on February 11 to 16:00 on March 15.
Q How do I do it?

There’ll be an application form at ticketing.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague
Q What will I need to apply?

Your passport and a credit card

Q How will I find out if I’ve got tickets or not and when?

UEFA will email you before April 8 though keep an eye on your credit card statement as they tend to take the money before letting you know

Q When would I receive them?

You’d get them by post sometime before April 30

Q. How many tickets can I buy?

One or two

Q How much do they cost?

Either £330, £230 or £140 or £60, plus an £8 administration fee per order.

You can also apply for a youth package which gives you an adult ticket and an under 16 ticket for a total of £120.

Q Do I get to choose which category?

You can select a preferred category, but that will not increase or decrease your chances of getting tickets

Q. Do I have to say who would use the tickets?

Yes, you have to state the full names of who would use the tickets if you got them and you would have to show ID at the turnstile.

Q So what’s the breakdown of tickets for the final?

EDIT: These figures were confirmed by UEFA on Wednesday February 13.

Normal capacity: 90,000

Final capacity: 86,000

Team A: 25,000

Team B: 25,000

Public ballot: 9,000

Sponsors/’UEFA football family’ 27,000*
(*an estimated figure).

Q What are the chances of me getting tickets through the public ballot?

Usually, about 200,000 people apply, so it’s generally a one in five chance.

However, UEFA have said that anyone who applies using a Mastercard will have their name entered twice into the draw.

Q. What other cards are accepted?

Visa, Diners Club and JCB.

All cards must have an expiry date beyond May 2013.

26 comments to UEFA Champions League final tickets to go on sale

  • Danield

Do they check names at the tickets at wembley?

  • Oli

I don’t think it is fair to say sponsors get 25k, that allocation is for the ‘football family’ so heads of FAs, leagues, UEFa staff etc. sponsors get well under a third of that number.

In terms of pricing, Uefa have spun this nicely.theyve focused on the cheapest price band going down 12 quid, but not on the higher end ones all going up. Seeing as there are relatively few cheap ones, many fans will still have No choice but to have a ticket that Uefa apologised for being 220 quid last time but are 230 this time. That price band was the majority of the lower tier tickets last time,

Am I right in saying that you are advised to only make 1 application in your own name as they check to see if you name appears more than once.

  • Matt71

That’s a good question Robert as was planning to apply in both mine and mates ( each being the lead and the other as the 2nd, if that makes sense?)

  • Jack

£230 or £330 are disgusting amounts. Shouldn’t even be at Wembley again.

  • Tommy

£230 or £330 to go to a football match, the world has officially gone mad but fools like me would still pay it so should not really moan!!

  • Chris

I got tickets for the last final off a friend. Names were printed on tickets. But no ID checks or anything at the ground.

  • Higgo

I got these tickets in the uefa ballot last season for the Europa League final. I applied when we were still in it. I forwarded them to a Spanish pal who wanted them and he used them no problem without any ID.

  • Oli

I think people have got two issues muddled here.

    1) can you make more than one application? The answer is no as the software rules anyone out who makes multiple applications.

    2) can you pass tickets on if you get them? yes, there are never any ID checkers, as others have said above

  • mufcdave

    3) oli is in the know

  • lakey

Just a quick question and one that’s been asked before so apologies. I am currently without a credit, even though i’m going to Madrid, and looking at how many now have credits any game up to the final is likely to see me being chubbed. What are the numbers for ST holders in the ACS so I know if I’ll be guaranteed a final ticket with an allocaton of 25k?

  • Sparky (Mark)

The sad thing about this is alot of people who are successful in the public ballot make a killing flogging it onto desperate fans who want to go to the game. Decent people who’ve paid their ST and attended all year for any club will get knocked back whilst other people with no interest in either club or haven’t been to a game all year can attend, the whole system pisses me off. Ive 2 credits this year, Madrid will be 3, my cc expired and missed the payment for Galatasraay home game, so annoyingly my credits will mean feck if we get to the final as im not able to apply..

  • Oli

Lakey, you get credit for being chubbed for Madrid not just for going. Last time at Wembley, anyone with a Euro credit (including for being chubbed for Chelsea in the quarters) was fine for the final.

But if you want a breakdown, roughly just over half of the 25k will go to ST holders anyway.

  • Robert

Matt 71 my advice to you is to apply in your name with any other name and your mate do the same. as it says earlier they may print the name on the ticket but never ask for ID in the past. However we are talking Wembley this year and we know what this country is all about when it comes to id.

Lakey you are likely to get a credit for attending Madrid, if we reach the final the finalists are to get 25000 tickets , I doubt more than 6/7000 will have 1 credit so the chance of getting a ticket for the final should be higher.

  • h-boss

Lakey, I think the Newcastle COC and West Ham replay attendance might give us a clue on the number of ACS members.

  • Oli

h-Boss – why? West Ham replay was part of the ACS so all tickets were bought by ST holders, how many showed up is not relevant.

  • h-boss

I stand corrected Oli, don’t know why I had the reply in there as we all had to pay for it. Newcastle should be a good estimate though, think it was around 45k.

  • olsen

I’d recommend waiting till after the 2nd leg vs Madrid (think we have a week’s grace before the ballot closes)before applying. Nothing like £300 tickets to watch Valencia play Juventus.

  • Gizi

It might be a silly question, as it stated that you can apply with a credit card only, but would I be able to apply with a VISA debit card (from a UK bank)?

  • Jay

Gizi no you cant I tried yesterday so had to use my visa credit card. And Olsen you have a month before ballot closes and you can cancel or change the application anytime upto that date which is 15th March

  • Gizi

    Thanks for you answer Jay!

  • Oli

Did not allow me use debit, only credit.

  • Tobey

    Hi!

Regarding passing tickets on. if I get a hold of a ticket issued in a womans name, do you think it’s a greater risk of not getting through the ID check at the stadium (I am a man)? In short – can a man get in a ticket issued in a womans name?

I have applied for tickets using my own account, but have also used a friends account (using different names on the tickets so i wont be disqualified from the ballot) but i have used my credit card on both applications. Do you know if its OK to use the same credit card on multiple applications or will the apllication be invalid?

I’m from sweden so excuse grammar and spelling

    /Tobey

  • Patrik

Just to get some numbers straight:

    1) Lets assume there’s 10,000 tickets available in the public ballot and lets also assume that each applicant has applied for the maximum allowed two tickets per application -i.e. UEFA draws 5000 applications (each applicant applies for two tickets, hence 5,000 applications corresponds to 10,000 tickets
    2) If the article is right, that there are 200,000 individual applications – the probability of being drawn in the ballot is 5,000/200,000=2.5% probability (assuming that you do not use Mastercard) – I.E NOT A ONE IN FIVE CHANCE AS THE ARTICLE AUTHOR SUGGESTS
    3) However, assuming different fractions of applicants using Mastercard as payment method (one additional application added for each applicant using MC), the probability decreases (for every 1% using MC, the probability of getting tickets if you are NOT using MC, decreases with approx 0.2 percentage units) – e.g. should 50% of the applicants use MC (assuming 200,000 applicants), an extra 100,000 applications will be added to the ballot. Probability of being drawn in the ballot hence becomes 5,000/300,000=1.67% probability (assuming that you do NOT use MC as payment method).

Let the luckiest guys be drawn in the ballot /P

  • Si

Typical….we’re out and I pick one up in the ballot.

  • Bayern-in-it-to-win-it

Has anyone received their tickets yet?
I appplied the last couple of years and never got picked,
but this year I got lucky and was sent an email about it early on in April.

Havent heared anything else since, and have not received the tickets by mail so far… should I send them an email or call them to see why this is or should I remain calm and wait? They debited the Money on my credit Card already!
